Around the bend of endless time
We sing and sigh along the vine,
Wrapped in gilded, red, rotting slime
That drags us to the curve of nine
And breaks our spirit twain.
Our necks and wrists will flow like this
Forever with the grain of sticks;
We ache inside with prideful tricks
And stand behind the matchstick wicks
That light our opened veins.
Instead of fleeing, peeling char
From our crusted, plastered scar
We drink the wine of stinging tar
And mold it to the black boudoir
That closes for the sane.

And please. Before you say something about the title understand that 8 is the same as the symbol for infinity. Just vertical.

Absolutely gorgeous rhyming scheme and rhythm. The one exception is "gilded, red, rotting slime" as the two commas throw the beat off. Other than that, fantastic indeed.
